James Bond Film Plot Gift & Merch – albums in order - every musician

Latest Movies I've Mapped News as of July 17, 2025

There’s a strange thing about film nostalgia: it never sits still. Even decades-old classics find their way back into the news, often for reasons you didn’t expect. And July 2025? It’s stacked.

From Bond 26 news and Blade Runner’s TV return, to Jaws' 50th anniversary and a stage musical for Back to the Future, this month’s updates are a mix of anniversaries, adaptations, and legacy moments.

Here’s a look at what’s happening with some of the biggest names in cinematic history—and how I’ve mapped their stories in my collection of film plot maps.

Back to the Future – A Musical & A 40-Year Legacy

Still one of the most beloved time-travel films ever made, Back to the Future is currently running as a stage musical in Boston until July 20, 2025. It’s part of the Broadway in Boston programme and is already drawing huge crowds.

Add to that its 40th anniversary, and you’ve got retrospectives, cast reunions, and even hunts for missing props (yes, really—like the original guitar Marty played).

Blade Runner – The Return of the Replicants

Blade Runner 2099 is the next instalment in the franchise, reportedly set to debut later this year on Prime Video. It’s set 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 and stars Michelle Yeoh and Tom Burke.

What’s interesting is that early interviews suggest this series has a tone much closer to the original 1982 film, leaning back into noir and atmosphere.

Production has wrapped, so an official release date is expected very soon.

Dirty Dancing – A Sequel, A Series & A Live Concert?

A sequel to Dirty Dancing has been in the works for a while now, with Jennifer Grey set to return—and current reports suggest it’s still aiming for a 2025 release. Meanwhile, there’s also a TV series in development, based on the absolute Catskills resort that inspired the film’s setting.

To add to the momentum, Dirty Dancing in Concert is coming in 2026, promising a live reimagining of key moments on stage. All signs point to a full-on franchise revival.

James Bond – Villeneuve Directing Bond 26

On June 25, 2025, it was confirmed: Dune director Denis Villeneuve will take on Bond 26. It’s a bold, stylish choice for the franchise. The film’s release is pencilled in for 2028, which sounds far off, but it fits the scale of production these films demand.

JAMES BOND | Actors & Characters Prints Unique Gifts for Fans

Casting remains wide open, with names like Tom Holland and Jacob Elordi being speculated. Either way, the next Bond era is slowly taking shape.

Jaws – Celebrating 50 Years of Shark Cinema

Jaws turned 50 in 2025, and the celebrations are big. There’s an ongoing interview series from The Daily Jaws revisiting cast and crew reflections, along with events and screenings across the summer.

One note of real-life drama: Richard Dreyfuss was due to appear at SharkCon this month but had to cancel due to bronchitis. It’s a reminder that even as we celebrate these films, the people behind them age and change, too.

The Shining – Shelley Duvall Remembered

In July 2024, the film world lost Shelley Duvall, who played Wendy Torrance in The Shining. A year later, her passing is still being commemorated through retrospectives and in-depth examinations of the film’s complex legacy.

This includes newly surfaced images from the film’s production and further discussion around Stephen King's dissatisfaction with Kubrick’s vision. It’s a film that refuses to sit quietly, and one whose legacy continues to evolve.

Final Thoughts

Film legacies evolve. Even as anniversaries pass and actors move on, new adaptations, sequels, and tributes pull these stories back into the present. These July 2025 updates are proof of that; nostalgia isn’t just memory, it’s momentum.

And that’s what my film maps aim to capture. A clear, structured way to follow the chaos, chronology, and creativity of the greatest films ever made.

ABOUT MIKE BELL - TUBE MAP DESIGNER

Mike Bell Maps is my growing collection of tube map art prints that reimagine music, film, and culture through the visual language of underground maps. Each design presents albums in order, film plots, and complex creative histories as clear, engaging tube-style timelines created for fans who value depth and detail.

RESEARCH-LED DESIGN

Every artwork is built on original research and careful verification. Albums become stations. Musicians, characters, and ideas form connecting lines. This approach turns detailed information into visual storytelling, creating art prints that bring clarity and meaning to subjects people already care about.

MY STORY

My background is rooted in live sound and large-scale show design, working across music and cultural events for many years. That experience shaped how I understand collaboration, creative evolution, and structure. During lockdown, I applied that knowledge to mapping music and films, developing underground maps that balance accuracy, design, and narrative.

THE ARTWORK

Each print is produced to archival standards and designed to last. These are not novelty posters. They are considered art prints created for people who value music history, film structure, and informed design. They make thoughtful gifts for fans who want something personal, researched, and meaningful.

Mike Bell Maps is where research-led tube maps become art prints, and where stories worth knowing are mapped clearly, carefully, and beautifully.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are Mike Bell’s tube map art prints?

A: My prints utilise an advanced visual language based on the logic of underground maps to organise complex histories. By moving beyond basic cartography, I transform albums into "stations" and musicians or themes into "connecting lines." This allows fans to explore hundreds of data points - from session musician credits to chronological collaborations - within a single, intuitive visual system.

Q: How do these maps differ from standard music or tube posters?

A: The primary difference is information density and quality. While standard posters are often low-resolution decorative pieces on thin paper (135-170gsm), my prints are research-led discographies printed on archival-grade, 305gsm+ heavyweight giclée paper. They are designed to be "read" like a book, rewarding deep curiosity with discoveries not found in mass-produced merchandise.

Q: How is the accuracy of the research verified?

A: Accuracy is the core of my design process. Every map is synthesised from primary sources, including official liner notes, session archives, musician interviews, and verified fan databases. By incorporating musician inputs and fact-checking against trusted archives, I ensure that each map is a historically accurate record of the subject’s career.

Q: What subjects are available in the collection?

A: The collection spans a wide range of cultural histories, including music discographies, film plots, politics, and Formula One. Each map focuses on a single narrative, presenting the whole "story" of a subject - such as the evolution of a band or the timeline of a sport- in a clear, high-density visual format.

Q: Are these prints produced sustainably?

A: Yes. I prioritise a carbon-neutral workflow by producing prints locally to the buyer to reduce the shipping footprint. I use sustainable wood frames and archival materials designed for 100+ years of colour stability, ensuring the art is a lasting investment rather than disposable décor.

Q: Why do these maps make the best gifts for music and film fans?

A: Unlike generic posters, these are bespoke cultural maps that celebrate a fan's deep knowledge. Because they are research-led and visually unique (featuring narratives not seen elsewhere), they offer a sophisticated, gallery-quality alternative for those who value the "deep dive" into their favourite artist or film.
