A gift for Arctic Monkeys fans who cannot say exactly where the Sheffield band turned into an orchestra, because this draws all nine albums with every credited musician as a line and the later stations are visibly wider. They own the records already. Eleven credited names on the debut becomes twenty eight by 2016.

Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper, textured matte, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1, with US sizing at 24x18in and 36x24in, unframed or framed. Deeply researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I drew this one so that each credited musician calls at every album they played on, in the style of a classic tube map. The stations run chronologically from Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not in 2006 to The Car in 2022, with the two Last Shadow Puppets records set in sequence alongside them.

Why this Arctic Monkeys discography tube map art makes a gift fans keep

Most maps of a band this size look the same all the way across. This one changes shape. The first two stations are four men and a producer, and the later ones carry string sections, arrangers and a dozen session players.

It rewards every closer look, because the widening is the story.

Contributing musicians on the map

Alex Turner is the only line that calls at all nine stations, the seven Arctic Monkeys albums and both Last Shadow Puppets records. Jamie Cook and Matt Helders run the whole Arctic Monkeys catalogue.

The one line-up change is right at the start and easy to miss. Andy Nicholson plays bass on the debut and nowhere else, a single-album line, with Nick O'Malley taking over from Favourite Worst Nightmare onwards.

James Ford is the longest non-band line on the print, credited across most of the catalogue as producer and player, and his credit list on the later albums runs to pedal steel, vibraphone, harpsichord and rotary timpani.

Josh Homme appears on three consecutive records, producing much of Humbug and singing backing vocals on Suck It and See and AM. Miles Kane runs the two Last Shadow Puppets stations with Turner and has a guitar credit on the Arctic Monkeys side too.

Everything You've Come to Expect in 2016 is the densest station on the map, with twenty eight credited musicians. Owen Pallett arranges and conducts, and a full string section of named violinists, violists and cellists joins the network there.

Smaller branch lines pick up Alison Mosshart on additional vocals, Pete Thomas on percussion, Bill Ryder-Jones on guitar and Zachary Dawes across bass, guitar and keyboards.

How I make each print

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or framed, ready to hang in a hallway, living room or studio.

A2 594 x 420 mm (23 x 16 in) 24 x 18 in Landscape
