In short: A Bruce Springsteen discography tube map art print that draws every credited musician as a tube line, with Greetings from Asbury Park N.J., Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town and Born in the U.S.A. as the stations where those lines converge. A considered gift for Bruce Springsteen fans and music lovers, ready to frame and give. Giclée on 230gsm textured matte fine art paper, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1 (US sizing 24x18in and 36x24in), unframed or in a black wooden frame. Hand-researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I designed this Bruce Springsteen discography map so every credited musician runs as their own named line, calling at each studio album they played on, drawn in the style of a classic tube map. The stations run chronologically from the Jersey bar-band beginnings of Greetings from Asbury Park, through the breakthrough of Born to Run and the stark turn of Nebraska, to the stadium era of Born in the U.S.A. and the records that followed, and each musician's line weaves between the records they played on. It is wall art for fans who know every verse, and a ready-made gift for anyone who came in through one anthem.

Why this Bruce Springsteen discography tube map art makes a gift fans keep

If you are buying for a Bruce Springsteen fan, this goes past the obvious present. I research every map by hand, checking release dates and running order so the sequence is right, which lets the person receiving it follow his route from the boardwalk to the stadiums. This particular map holds an unusual credential: the same design is held in the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University. It makes a birthday or Christmas gift for the Springsteen fan in your life, the kind of present that gets framed and kept rather than opened once and shelved.

Contributing musicians on the map

Roy Bittan on piano, Garry Tallent on bass, Max Weinberg on drums and Steven Van Zandt on guitar run as the E Street Band's backbone across most of the catalogue. Clarence Clemons' saxophone runs from the 1973 debut through to Working on a Dream in 2009, one of the longest unbroken lines on the map. Danny Federici's organ runs alongside him for the same span. Patti Scialfa's backing vocals join the line from Born in the U.S.A. in 1984, and Nils Lofgren and Soozie Tyrell become recurring names in the band's later era.

How I make each print

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or supplied in a black wooden frame, ready to hang as art prints in a hallway, living room or studio.
