In short: A Paul Weller discography map art print that draws every credited musician as a tube line, with all 21 releases in order from the 1992 debut to 66 in 2024 as the stations where those lines converge. A considered gift for Paul Weller fans and music lovers, ready to frame and give. Giclée on 230gsm textured matte fine art paper, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1 (US sizing 24x18in and 36x24in), unframed or framed. Hand-researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I designed this Paul Weller discography map so every credited musician runs as their own named line, calling at each release they played on, drawn in the style of a classic tube map. The stations run chronologically from the 1992 debut through Wild Wood and Stanley Rd, on through 22 Dreams and Wake Up the Nation, to On Sunset and 66. Every musician credited along the way is drawn as their own line.

This is the solo catalogue. The Jam and the Style Council were separate bands with their own line-ups, so they are not plotted here as albums. They arrive on the map another way, which is the part most people find surprising.

Why this Paul Weller discography map art print makes a gift fans keep

If you are buying for a Paul Weller fan, this goes past the obvious present. I research every map by hand from liner notes and session credits, so the credits are right, which lets the person receiving it follow his route across more than thirty years. It makes a birthday or Christmas gift for the Paul Weller fan in your life, the kind of present that gets framed and kept rather than opened once and shelved.

The musicians on the map

Steve Cradock of Ocean Colour Scene has the longest line after Weller himself, credited on 18 of the 21 releases, from Wild Wood in 1993 all the way to 66 in 2024. Steve White drums on the first ten, and Andy Crofts and Steve Pilgrim carry the later years.

Both of the bands Weller led before this catalogue began turn up in it. Bruce Foxton of The Jam appears once, on Wake Up the Nation in 2010. Steve Brookes, who founded The Jam with Weller and left before its first single, plays on three albums between 2015 and 2020. Mick Talbot of the Style Council spans 1993 to 2020, and Dee C. Lee sings on the first two records.

The guest list is wider than either earlier band ever managed. Noel Gallagher is credited on five albums, and Steve Winwood, Jools Holland, Graham Coxon of Blur, Robert Wyatt, Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, Bev Bevan and Clem Cattini all appear at different points. Studio 150 in 2004, named after the Amsterdam studio where it was recorded, is the busiest station on the whole print.

How I make each print

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or supplied framed and ready to hang as art prints in a hallway, living room or studio.

FAQ

Does the map include The Jam and The Style Council?
Not as albums. This map plots the solo catalogue, 21 releases from 1992 to 2024. Both earlier bands are present through their musicians: Bruce Foxton and Steve Brookes from The Jam, Mick Talbot and Dee C. Lee from the Style Council.

Are the live albums on it, or only the studio records?
Both. Seventeen studio albums and four live albums, plotted as one route in release order.

Who are the longest-serving musicians on the map?
Steve Cradock on guitar, credited on 18 of the 21 releases, and Steve White on drums across the first ten.

Did Noel Gallagher really guest on Paul Weller's records?
Yes, on five of them: Stanley Rd, Illumination, 22 Dreams, Sonik Kicks and True Meanings.

What frame options are there?
Unframed, or framed and ready to hang.

Related music maps

The closest companions come off the credits rather than the genre shelf. Noel Gallagher has five stations on this map, which makes the Noel Gallagher discography map the natural pair, and Jools Holland's credit on Heavy Soul connects it to the Squeeze discography map.

The link that runs the other way is the Who discography map, because Weller sang and played on their Royal Albert Hall album and has a station on it. For the same era and audience, the Stranglers discography map sits alongside it.
