My Lewes Tube Map art print is part of an irreverent series of place-themed tube maps. I began plotting these during the 2020 lockdown. Initially a creative distraction, the maps became surprisingly popular.

However, I soon found the niche market for local town tube maps quite saturated. This led me to explore more challenging subjects.

Despite this shift, local town maps like those of Lewes and Uckfield remain popular. Residents and visitors often choose the  art prints as quirky souvenirs or unique gifts.

Notably, a large-scale Uckfield Tube Map hangs proudly in the Picture House Cinema, Uckfield. Additionally, a bespoke expanded version of my Lewes map features prominently at a local consultancy firm.

My Lewes Tube Map isn't high art or historically precise. Instead, it's playful, witty, and distinctly irreverent. It gently pokes fun at local quirks and landmarks, sparking amusing conversations wherever displayed.

About the Creator — Mike Bell

I am Mike Bell, a designer based in East Sussex and the founder of Mike Bell Maps. I spent many years working on live events, designing stage builds and providing technical production. When the live events world paused under lockdowns, I turned my energy and experience to something different: transforming music and story history into visual art.

With Mike Bell Maps, I create detailed, transit-style maps that chart studio albums, collaborations and narrative journeys across decades. My first music map - The Fall - went through sixteen versions before it felt right. This dedication exemplifies the level of research, care and attention I bring to every art print.

Each map I offer is grounded in fundamental research: liner notes, archival credits, interviews and fan archives. My tube maps do more than look good.
