In short: A Deep Purple discography tube map art print that draws every credited musician as a tube line, with Shades of Deep Purple, In Rock, Machine Head, Burn and 2026's SPLAT! as the stations where those lines converge. A considered gift for Deep Purple fans and music lovers, ready to frame and give. Giclée on 230gsm textured matte fine art paper, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1 (US sizing 24x18in and 36x24in), unframed or in a black wooden frame. Hand-researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I designed this Deep Purple discography map so every credited musician runs as their own named line, calling at each studio album they played on, drawn in the style of a classic tube map. The stations run chronologically from the 1968 debut Shades of Deep Purple, through the Mark II classics In Rock and Machine Head, to Burn and the later records, right through to 2026's SPLAT!, the band's twenty-fourth studio album. It is wall art for fans who know every line-up, and a ready-made gift for anyone who came in through the riffs.

Why this Deep Purple discography tube map art makes a gift fans keep

If you are buying for a Deep Purple fan, this goes past the obvious present. I research every map by hand, checking release dates and running order so the sequence is right, right up to 2026's SPLAT!, which lets the person receiving it follow the band's route across the decades. It makes a birthday or Christmas gift for the Deep Purple fan in your life, the kind of present that gets framed and kept rather than opened once and shelved.

Contributing musicians on the map

Ian Paice's drums are the one constant across all twenty-four studio albums, from 1968 to 2026. Ritchie Blackmore's guitar defines the Mark I through Mark IV line-ups before his line ends after Stormbringer in 1974, and Tommy Bolin steps in for a single album, Come Taste the Band, a striking one-record branch line. Jon Lord's Hammond organ runs through the classic era before Don Airey takes over the keyboard line from 2003's Bananas onward. Steve Morse's guitar line begins with Purpendicular in 1996 and continues for the rest of the catalogue.

How I make each print

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or supplied in a black wooden frame, ready to hang as art prints in a hallway, living room or studio.
