Contributing musicians on the map

Anthony Kiedis and Flea are the only two credited on every album. Chad Smith joins at Mother's Milk and never leaves.

John Frusciante's line is the most complicated on the print. He arrives at Mother's Milk, disappears for One Hot Minute, returns for Californication, leaves again after Stadium Arcadium, and comes back for both 2022 records.

Hillel Slovak plays on the second and third albums and appears once more, posthumously, on a track of Mother's Milk. Dave Navarro has a single-album line on One Hot Minute, and Josh Klinghoffer covers the two records between Frusciante's departures.

Freaky Styley in 1985 is a P-Funk record in all but name. George Clinton produced it, and Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Garry Shider and half a dozen more of that circle sing and play on it.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik holds the two best credits in the catalogue. Gail Frusciante and her friends sing the choir on Under the Bridge, and Pete Weiss plays a Jew's harp on Give It Away, credited on the sleeve as a juice harp.

One Hot Minute brings in John Lurie on harmonica and Stephen Perkins of Jane's Addiction, and credits a baby crying on One Big Mob. Stadium Arcadium adds Billy Preston on clavinet and Omar Rodríguez-López on a guitar solo, and The Getaway puts Elton John on piano with Danger Mouse producing.
