A gift for Charlatans fans who have never read the credits on Different Days, because it runs 16 albums, with each credited musician as their own line. They already own the records, and one of them features a crime novelist.

Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper, textured matte, archival and acid-free. Produced unframed or framed. Deeply researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I plot these in CAD software. Every credited musician becomes a transit line, every album becomes a station, and anyone who appears only once gets a branch line of their own.

The stations run chronologically from Some Friendly in 1990 to We Are Love in 2025, with Tim Burgess's two solo records sitting in the sequence alongside the band albums.

Why this Charlatans discography tube map art makes a gift fans keep

This band has lost two members and kept going, and the map shows both breaks plainly. It also shows something else: the guest list got stranger the longer they lasted.

The last decade of records is the densest part of the print by a distance. It rewards every closer look.

Contributing musicians on the map

Tim Burgess is on all 16. Martin Blunt's bass runs every band album, and Mark Collins joins on guitar from Between 10th and 11th and never leaves.

Rob Collins's keyboard line ends at Tellin' Stories in 1997, completed shortly before his death, with Tony Rogers taking the chair from Us and Us Only. Jon Brookes drums from the debut through Who We Touch in 2010, and Pete Salisbury picks up from Modern Nature.

Tellin' Stories brings in Martin Duffy of Primal Scream and Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers, and Wonderland is produced around Daniel Lanois with Jim Keltner on drums.

Penny Rimbaud of Crass appears on Who We Touch, which is not a sentence anyone expected to write about this band.

Different Days in 2017 is the busiest station on the whole map, with 19 credited musicians. Johnny Marr and Paul Weller both play on it, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order appear, Anton Newcombe and Kurt Wagner turn up, and so do the writer Sharon Horgan and the novelist Ian Rankin.

How do I make each print?

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or framed, ready to hang in a hallway, living room or studio.

Size UK USA / CAN / AUS equivalent Orientation
A2 594 x 420 mm (23 x 16 in) 24 x 18 in Landscape
A1 841 x 594 mm (33 x 23 in) 36 x 24 in Landscape
