A gift for Stranglers fans who assume Hugh Cornwell was the band, because this runs 20 albums with every credited musician as their own line. They already own the records, and Cornwell's line covers only the first twelve of them.
Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper, textured matte, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1, with US sizing at 24x18in and 36x24in, unframed or framed. Deeply researched and designed by me in East Sussex.
I plot these in CAD software. Every credited musician becomes a transit line, every album becomes a station, and anyone who appears only once gets a branch line of their own.
The stations run chronologically from Rattus Norvegicus (1977) to Dark Matters (2021). Guest musicians branch off as short spurs.

Forty-four years is a long time for any line to hold, and two of them do. Seeing that drawn out changes how the band reads: not a punk group that fell apart, but one that quietly kept going for three decades after the famous bit ended.
The guest spurs run from a jazz singer to a classical violinist. It rewards every closer look.
Contributing musicians on the map
Jean-Jacques Burnel and Dave Greenfield are the two lines that run all 20 albums, from 1977 to 2021. Jet Black covers nineteen of them, stopping only at Dark Matters, where Jim Macaulay takes the drum chair.
Hugh Cornwell's line ended after 10 in 1990. Paul Roberts sings from Stranglers in the Night through Suite XVI, with John Ellis on guitar for four albums, before Baz Warne picks up guitar and vocals from Norfolk Coast onward.
Black and White in 1978 holds the most unlikely trio of guests on the map. The jazz singer and broadcaster George Melly sings on Old Codger, Lew Lewis plays harmonica on the same track, and Lora Logic of X-Ray Spex plays saxophone on Hey!.
About Time in 1995 brings in Nigel Kennedy for a violin part, and Norfolk Coast has a violin solo from Jon Sevink of the Levellers.
Aural Sculpture is the horn album, with Paul Nieman, Paul Spong and Tim Whitehead across three tracks, and Dreamtime adds Alex Gifford's saxophone and B.J. Cole's pedal steel guitar.
