Why this Jaws plot map art makes a gift fans keep
A gift for Jaws fans who have seen it forty times and never once seen its shape, this charts the whole 1975 film as a London Underground map, with the town plot and the boat plot meeting at a single station. They have the poster already. This is the film's architecture instead.
Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper, textured matte, archival and acid-free. Produced unframed or framed. Deeply researched and designed by me in East Sussex.
I mapped Steven Spielberg's blockbuster so that the story beats of Amity Island's summer become stations, drawn in the style of a classic London Underground map. Brody is the constant line, with Hooper, Quint and the town council joining and leaving along the way.
Most Jaws presents are the poster or the shark. This one shows the film's actual architecture: a town plot for the first half, a boat plot for the second, and the exact station where the two meet.
I built it from a scene-by-scene pass through the film, so the order and the overlaps are right. The full story on your wall, in a single image, a fan can stand and read.
Characters and key plot points on the map
Chief Martin Brody, played by Roy Scheider, runs as the constant line from the opening beach closures through to the final hunt. Matt Hooper, the marine biologist played by Richard Dreyfuss, joins partway through.
Quint, played by Robert Shaw, brings the boat, the Orca, and pulls the three leads together for the film's second half. Mayor Vaughn's line marks the town's resistance to the closure of the beaches.
Key stations include the Chrissie Watkins opening attack, Quint's USS Indianapolis speech aboard the Orca, and the final confrontation with the shark.
How do I make each print?
Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or framed, ready to hang in a hallway, living room or studio.
