Billy Bragg Discography Map
"Brilliant idea... really like what you've done, Mike." Billy Bragg

Across four decades and thirteen albums, he has worked with a wide circle of musicians, including The Blokes, Kirsty MacColl, Wilco and Joe Henry. What the Map Shows
The shape of this one is a slow widening. The first album is two names. By Bridges Not Walls it is nine. Cara Tivey is the longest guest line on the print, running from 1986 to 2008, and Wiggy and Andy Hobson hold the middle of the map together through the 1990s.
The crossings are worth finding too. Johnny Marr appears twice, fourteen years apart. Michael Stipe and Peter Buck of R.E.M. both turn up on Don't Try This at Home, and Robert Wyatt sings on two albums a decade apart.
Q and A: Billy Bragg's Albums and Collaborations
What is Billy Bragg's most famous collaboration?
His work with Wilco on the Mermaid Avenue albums, setting unrecorded Woody Guthrie lyrics to new music.
Did Billy Bragg always play solo?
No. The early albums are close to one-man records, and the later work features The Blokes and a long list of guest musicians.
What is not on the map?
Live albums and compilations. The map plots studio records only, which is an editorial rule I apply right across the range.
Are producers on the map?
Only where they also played on the record. Joe Henry produced Tooth and Nail in 2013 but does not have a line of his own.
