A gift for Ramones fans who get handed that logo on a t-shirt every birthday, because this maps all fourteen albums and shows the four brothers were never the same four people. They own the records already. Only two of them reach every station.

Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper, textured matte, archival and acid-free. Available in A2 or A1, with US sizing at 24x18in and 36x24in, unframed or framed. Deeply researched and designed by me in East Sussex.

I plot these in CAD software. Every credited musician becomes a transit line, every album becomes a station, and anyone who appears only once gets a branch line of their own.

The stations run chronologically from the 1976 debut to ¡Adios Amigos! in 1995.

Why this Ramones discography tube map art makes a gift fans keep

The band presented itself as one unchanging unit. The map is the flattest contradiction of that I have drawn, because the rhythm section turns over repeatedly while the front two never move.

Not an algorithm - every connection on this map was made by hand, by an obsessive fan. It is also the only way to see how odd some of the guest credits are.

Contributing musicians on the map

Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone are credited on all fourteen albums. Dee Dee Ramone runs the first eleven and then appears once more after leaving.

The drum stool is where the map moves. Tommy Ramone plays the first three, Marky takes over, Richie Ramone holds three albums in the mid 1980s, and Marky returns for the rest. C.J. Ramone takes the bass for the last three.

End of the Century in 1980 is the strangest station on the print. Phil Spector produced it, and he brought his own session team with him, so Jim Keltner, Steve Douglas, Barry Goldberg and the Kessel brothers all appear on a Ramones record.

Pleasant Dreams was produced by Graham Gouldman of 10cc, who also plays guitar and sings on it. Russell Mael of Sparks sings backing vocals on the same album.

Debbie Harry, Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson all turn up on backing vocals across the 1980s records, which puts Blondie and the B-52s on the same map as the Wrecking Crew.

Walter Lure of the Heartbreakers plays additional guitar on several albums, and Ed Stasium adds guitar on three, one of them uncredited on the sleeve.

How do I make each print?

Each one is a Giclée on 230gsm premium fine art paper with a textured matte finish, archival and acid-free, so the colours hold for years. Choose A2 or A1, unframed or framed, ready to hang in a hallway, living room or studio.

Size UK USA / CAN / AUS equivalent Orientation
A2 594 x 420 mm (23 x 16 in) 24 x 18 in Landscape
A1 841 x 594 mm (33 x 23 in) 36 x 24 in Landscape

FAQ

Who is on every album?
Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone, and only those two.

How many drummers are on the map?
Three. Tommy, Marky and Richie, with Marky's line breaking and rejoining.

Did Phil Spector really produce a Ramones album?
Yes, End of the Century in 1980, and he brought a full session team with him, which is why that station is so busy.

Is anyone from 10cc on it?
Graham Gouldman, who produced Pleasant Dreams and played on it.

Is Debbie Harry on the map?
Yes, on backing vocals, along with Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson of the B-52s.

What are the framing options?
Unframed, or supplied framed and ready to hang.
