Contributing musicians on the map

Dave Grohl is credited on every album on the map except Bleach, which Chad Channing drummed. Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic run the three Nirvana stations, and Novoselic returns once more, twenty years later, playing bass and accordion on Wasting Light.

Pat Smear's line is the one that breaks and returns. He plays on In Utero and The Colour and the Shape, drops off for three albums, returns with Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace in 2007, and has been there since.

Nate Mendel joined on the second album and has not left. Taylor Hawkins arrives at There Is Nothing Left to Lose in 1999 and runs through to Hail Satin in 2021. Chris Shiflett joins at One by One, Rami Jaffee at In Your Honor, and Ilan Rubin takes the drum chair on Your Favorite Toy.

The guest list is where the map gets strange. Brian May plays guitar on the track " One by One. In Your Honor brings in John Paul Jones on piano and mandolin, Norah Jones singing on Virginia Moon, and Josh Homme on guitar.

Sonic Highways is the densest station on the print, with Joe Walsh, Gary Clark Jr., Rick Nielsen, Zac Brown, Tony Visconti arranging strings, and a New Orleans horn section on a single track. Wasting Light adds Bob Mould and Butch Vig.

Medicine at Midnight credits Paul McCartney on drums and Justin Timberlake on backing vocals. Two of Grohl's daughters are on the map too: Violet Grohl sings on three of the later records, and Harper Grohl on the title track of Your Favorite Toy.
