About The Who:

The Who is a British rock band that formed in London in 1964. The band is composed of guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential and innovative bands of the 20th century and are known for their energetic live performances, powerful melodic songs, and rebellious attitude.

The Who first gained popularity in the mid-1960s with hit songs like "My Generation," "Substitute," and "I Can't Explain." They were part of the British Invasion that swept the United States, along with other iconic bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The Who's music was marked by its loud, distorted guitars, explosive drumming, and Townshend's dynamic use of feedback and distortion.

Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, The Who released a string of highly acclaimed albums, including "A Quick One" (1966), "The Who Sell Out" (1967), "Tommy" (1969), "Who's Next" (1971), and "Quadrophenia" (1973). These albums featured hit songs such as "Pinball Wizard," "Baba O'Riley," and "Won't Get Fooled Again," and showcased the band's penchant for exploring complex themes and concepts.

In addition to their music, The Who were also known for their explosive live shows. The band's early performances were marked by their destruction of equipment on stage, with Townshend famously smashing his guitar at the end of each concert. This rebellious behaviour became a signature of The Who's live shows and helped establish them as one of the most exciting and unpredictable bands in rock music.

However, tragedy struck in 1978 when Keith Moon died of a drug overdose. Despite this devastating loss, The Who continued to tour and record new music, releasing albums such as "Face Dances" (1981) and "It's Hard" (1982). In 2002, the band embarked on what was billed as their farewell tour, but they continued to play occasional shows and release new material in the years that followed.

The Who is recognized as one of the most important and influential bands in the history of rock music. Their innovative sound, dynamic live shows, and willingness to push the boundaries of what was considered acceptable in rock music have left a lasting impact on generations of musicians and fans.
